The “Choked Lungs” Error
The A5 Error is usually a cry for help from your indoor unit. It monitors the temperature of the indoor heat exchanger coil. If the temperature drops dangerously close to freezing (0°C), the system suspects that air isn’t moving across the coil fast enough to keep it warm.
Why it happens: Dust is the enemy. A thick layer of dust on your filters or the coil itself acts like a blanket, blocking airflow. Without warm room air passing over the coil, it gets too cold, and the PCB stops the compressor to prevent ice damage.
1 DIY Checks (Try These First!)
Check the Mesh Filters
Open the front panel. Are the mesh filters covered in grey fuzz? If you can’t see the mesh through the dust, this is 100% your problem.
Fan Speed Test
Set the fan to ‘High’. Does the air blast out strongly? If the motor sounds loud but the air is weak, the internal blower wheel is choked with mud.
Return Air Blockage
Is there a curtain, a cupboard, or a false ceiling blocking the top of the AC? The AC needs space to breathe from the top.
Atlas Aircon Service Plan
How we clear the A5 Blockage:
-
01.
Basic Service (DIY) Remove filters. Wash them under a tap. Let them dry. Reinstall. Reset AC power. This fixes simple A5 errors.
-
02.
Jet Pump Service (Deep Clean) If the dust is stuck inside the aluminum fins or the blower wheel, we use a high-pressure jet pump and foam cleaner to wash it out.
-
03.
Fan Motor Check If the unit is clean but airflow is still low, the indoor fan capacitor might be weak, or the motor RPM is too low. We check and replace if needed.
