The “Choked Lungs” of GIDC

The H6 Error is specific to the Indoor Fan Motor being “Locked.” Unlike electrical faults, this is often physical. The motor is trying to spin, but something is holding it back.

Why GIDC Areas? In industrial zones (GIDC), the air is filled with sticky chemical particles, textile fibers, or heavy dust. This “sludge” coats the rubber bush and steel bearings of the blower motor, acting like glue. Eventually, the motor seizes up, triggering H6.

1 Field Diagnosis (Check Yourself)

The Stiffness Test

With AC OFF, open the flap. Push the roller with a pen. If it feels heavy, sticky, or hard to rotate, the bushes are jammed with dust.

Foreign Objects

Sometimes, a piece of packaging foam or a lizard/rat can physically wedge itself between the blower blades and the chassis.

It Spins, But H6 Appears?

If the fan spins freely by hand but the error persists, the Hall Sensor (speed counter) inside the motor is dead. The PCB thinks the fan is stopped.

Atlas Aircon Repair Protocol

Industrial Standard Repair Steps:

  1. 01.
Jet Pump Service (Deep Clean) We disassemble the blower unit and pressure wash the bearings/bushes to remove the “GIDC sludge.” 70% of H6 cases are fixed here.
  2. 02.
Bush & Bearing Replacement If cleaning doesn’t work, the rubber bush is deformed. We replace the bush set to restore smooth rotation.
  3. 03.
Feedback Sensor/Motor Change If the motor is electrically dead or the feedback wire is cut (rat bite), the entire motor unit is replaced.

Estimated Repair Cost (Atlas Aircon)

Deep Service: ₹500 – ₹800
Motor Replace: ₹2,800+

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this happen so often in my factory office?
Factory environments have micro-dust that bypasses standard filters. This dust mixes with atmospheric moisture to form a sticky paste inside the motor bearings, causing H6 much faster than in homes.
Can I spray WD-40 to fix the jammed fan?
Temporary Fix Only. WD-40 might loosen it for a few days, but it attracts more dust eventually, leading to a harder jam later. Proper cleaning and greasing are required.
Is H6 different from E5?
Yes. E5 is usually a startup failure (often Capacitor). H6 is specifically a “Lock” or “Feedback” error, implying the motor is trying to run but is being physically stopped or isn’t reporting its speed.
