Continuing to run equipment with this active code may void warranties or cause permanent mechanical failure.

Panel AC Error Codes Unlocked

The definitive industrial guide to translating the blinking red lights on your CNC and electrical panel coolers before millions of rupees in machinery melt down.

In the high-stakes manufacturing floors of Makarpura, Halol, Waghodia, and Savli GIDCs, an error code on a Panel AC is the ultimate warning shot. These industrial coolers protect VFDs, PLCs, and servo drives from suffocating in their own heat. When a digital controller flashes an alarm, pressing “Reset” without diagnosing the root cause is industrial suicide.

With over two decades of front-line engineering experience diagnosing highly complex industrial chillers and panel ACs, we have compiled the ultimate “Cheat Sheet.” Here is what your heavy-duty panel AC is trying to tell you.

1. Rittal Panel AC Error Codes (Blue e & Blue e+)

Rittal is the global gold standard for panel cooling. Their digital controllers are highly sensitive and will shut down the compressor to protect it at the first sign of danger.

E03 / H1

Fault: Internal enclosure temperature too high.
The Fix: The cooling capacity is overwhelmed. Check if the cabinet doors are sealed properly. Ensure the internal fan is circulating air over the PLC racks.

E18 / H2

Fault: Condenser heavily soiled / High Pressure.
The Fix: The most common GIDC failure. Shop floor dust and oil mist have choked the external aluminum fins. Requires an immediate chemical foam wash.

E01 / E02

Fault: Compressor Overload / High Current.
The Fix: Check phase voltage. The compressor is drawing too many amps. Could be a failing starting capacitor (on 1-phase units) or severe internal mechanical failure.

E15 / E16

Fault: Sensor failure (Internal/External).
The Fix: NTC thermistor wire is broken due to machine vibration. Requires sensor recalibration or replacement.

2. Advance / Generic Industrial CNC Cooler Codes

Advance, Werner Finley, and custom-built CNC panel coolers often utilize universal digital micro-controllers (like Dixell or Carel). Here is how to decode their generic alphanumeric warnings.

Display CodeCritical Fault MeaningImmediate Action Required
HPHigh Pressure Cut-Out. Condenser fan failed or fins are completely choked with oil sludge.Turn off machine. Check external fan motor. Apply chemical wash to condenser.
LPLow Pressure Cut-Out. Refrigerant Gas Leak.DO NOT TOP UP. Isolate system, perform Nitrogen pressure test (300 PSI), braze leak, vacuum, and recharge by exact weight.
P1 / P2Probe 1 or Probe 2 failure. The controller has gone blind to the temperature.Check wiring harness for vibration damage. Replace NTC probe.
ALA / HAHigh Temperature Alarm. The panel is overheating despite the compressor running.Check internal evaporator fan. If the fan is running, the system has lost cooling capacity (micro-leak or blocked capillary).

The Plant Manager’s “Do Not Touch” Warning

I have seen standard residential AC mechanics destroy ₹2 Lakh Rittal units in minutes because they treated an industrial panel cooler like a bedroom window AC. If you see an error code, enforce these rules on your shop floor:

  1. Never Bypass the HP/LP Switch: Amateur mechanics will jump the pressure switches to force the compressor to run. This will melt the compressor windings or rupture the copper lines.
  2. Stop Guessing PCB Faults: Rittal and Advance PCBs rarely fail on their own. They lock out to protect the system. Replacing a ₹40,000 logic board without cleaning a blocked condenser will just result in a second blown board.
  3. Never “Top Up” Gas: Panel ACs hold precise micro-charges (sometimes as little as 350 grams). Overcharging by even 50 grams will cause liquid slugging and shatter the compressor valves.
